Spirituality and Religion

Gokul Das Nair (USA, 15/09/08)

Limiting spirituality to the narrow confines of religion is perhaps  the biggest mistake so many people make in their lifetime. This has kept many people away from the true idea of spirituality and purpose of life and so many are caught in the web of rituals and other limiting factors.  Many people develop a wrong idea about the source by limiting themselves to the confines and rituals  of a religion.

There cannot be  a more foolish act than killing, fighting and hating in the name of a religion because by doing so we are killing our own selves.  It is only common sense and  logic that we all come from  the same source and that we are nurtured by the same mother nature.

Organized Religion says that some people can get in and some cannot, how can it deny the universality that it preaches? The essence of all religions is perhaps universality and spirituality. Spirituality  is universal. It embraces  and welcomes all the collective wisdom of the masters, prophets and seers  who have traveled the path. Therefore, the need of the time is to reconnect to the source and not limit ourselves to the parameters of organised religion.  We are in essence a spirit and it is foolish to limit or tie it to some idea, ritual or dogma. We are told by many masters that expansion, love and compassion is the true nature of spirit.

The need of the hour is to take guidance from the collective wisdom of all religions, and teachers but not to limit our spirituality and tie it to some limiting ideas.

Expansion is life.....when a flower starts blossoming, unfolding, expanding....it is life.....and when it stops, it is the end of life for that flower.
