Gautam Dhar 'Zafar'

Born in a small town, Hisar in India, Gautam Dhar has come a long way and could have never conjured publishing a book. He had never thought much of writing until on a cold winter's night in 2001 - when words just started flowing like a creek in a forest. In college, he always found time to capture his thoughts in poetic form. After two years his collection grew large enough to assemble an anthology of his heartfelt work, which eventually became his first published book The Old Man Said. Most of his poems feature his experiences and real people he has met at different stages of his life.

His style of writing ranges from writing ballads to traditional poems. In addition to writing in English, he is also a Shayar and keeps his Ghazal and Nazm writing up with English Poetry. In his free time, he writes short stories, practices Acoustic Guitar and goes out with his camera to capture nature every once in a while. Originally from the Kashmir region of India, he grew up in Rohtak, India before coming to USA in 1999. His first book, The Old Man Said was published in June 2004. He showcases his work on his personally designed Website.

He graduated from Michigan State University in 2005 and currently works and lives in Lansing, Michigan.
